'Preti Taneja’s beautiful novella is evocative, elegant, sparse and yet enormously full. A story that, to many of us, might seem ‘other’, becomes inclusive and deeply engaging, all of it woven from a single loose thread.' - Stella Duffy
Preti's debut novel, WE THAT ARE YOUNG, a 'superb' retelling of
Shakespeare's King Lear set in contemporary India, will be published by
GALLEY BEGGAR PRESS in 2017.
The book grew out of her fascination with Indian public and political life, and is set against the incendiary anti-corruption protests that swept the country in 2012.
Preti travelled and lived in New Delhi and Kashmir during the writing of this book, gathering insights from people from all walks of society, from street sweepers to the super rich. Read more about her research here...
