Visual Verse is an online anthology of art and words. Every month we publish a new image by a contemporary artist for writers to respond to.
The pieces must be 50-500 words and written within one hour.
We are proud to publish writers of all levels of experience in a collaborative format.
Our writers are of all genders, ages, racial, religious, socio-economic, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds, and from all over the world.
Visual Verse was founded in 2013 by Preti Taneja, and Kristen Harrison of The Curved House. Design by Mr Pete Lewis.
Visual Verse closed to submissions in 2023. The full archive can be accessed online at the Newcastle Centre for Literary Arts where it is free and open to all to enjoy.
